Brazil Carnival Travel

Secretary of State Clinton on Wednesday implored the Brazilian government to push for the speedy return of an 8 year old boy to his father who is a US citizen. The boy was illegally abducted more than 4 years ago.

“Mr. Goldman has, under every known law of international adoption, followed the rules,” she said. “He’s come in, he’s made a claim, which is certainly a paramount claim that as the biological father he has every right to have custody of his son.”

Goldman’s wife took their son with her on vacation to her native home of Brazil. She then divorced him and remarried. Last year, his ex-wife died and left their son in the custody of her new husband who now refuses to return the boy.

The new Husband is a lawyer and comes from a prominent family in Rio de Janeiro. For the first time since this ordeal began Goldman was allowed to see his son last month.

Brazilian local courts have declined to grant Goldman custody, despite both Brazil and the United States being signatories to the 1980 Hague Abduction Convention. The case is due to be heard in a federal court in Brazil.

Your 2009 Rio de Janeiro Carnival Samba School Winner is….

Salguerio Samba School was the big winner for Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival this year. Their theme was the history of the Drum. They entered the Sabadromo in brilliant colors, of course their school colors of Red and White were ever present, and began singing and dancing their hearts out.

Viviane Araujo was the Schools Drum Queen and boy did she represent her school well. Vivane wore an absolutely stunning carnival outfit that showed off all of her generous Brazilian curves and sexy tanlines. She danced the samba for 80 minutes straight as her school entered the Sambadromo blaring their school song and music.

Queen of the Drum Section Wears VERY Little

On Monday night in the Sambodromo, Dani Sperle, a Carnival Queen of the drum section (Rainha do Bateria) performed the samba for her school of Unidos da Tijuca down the runway with the least bit of clothing EVER.

RIO DE JANEIRO - It’s a record that can only be broken in Rio de Janeiro.

A samba dancer has worn the smallest scrap of clothing ever in a Carnival parade.

The O Globo newspaper says model Dani Sperle sported a sparkly silver headdress, a necklace, matching arm bands — and nothing else but a patch of cloth 3 centimeters (1.2 inches) long — in front of 80,000 Sambadrome spectators early Monday morning.

Dani is a dancer on a program that comes on each Saturday throughout Brazil called Calderao do Huck. She was discovered by the Host of the show and has grown to be quite popular. I guess wearing as little as possible does get a girl noticed.

Viradouro Queen of the Drum Section

Meet Aline of Viradouro. She is the Queen of the Drum Section for the prominent Samba School of Viradouro.

Aline will open up the parade for her samba school as the first person to head down the run way representing Viradouro. This is Aline’s first time performing in a samba school and she is very excited to be representing such a prestigious school.

Rafaela do Mangueira

Rafaela is the Queen of the Drum section for the Samba School of Mangueria. She is 27 years old and live in Botofogo, a neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. Rafaela’s family is completely involved in the Mangeuria School. She feels its a great honor to enter into the Sambadromo representing here school of pink and green

The Rio De Janeiro Samba School of Beija Flor has one many a Carnival title for the Best School entering into the competition. One reason is for the amazing girls that dance the samba.

Meet Gisele Cabral. She is 19 years old from Bento Ribeiro, a neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. She was asked by the director of the school to come and participate for the 2009 Carnival.

Brazilian Government Passes out 65 Million Condoms to Party Goers

Rio de Janeiro- The Party is Building up to a Sexual Fever!!! and the Brazilian Government knows it. The government reported Friday that they will distribute 65 million condoms free for the Brazilian Carnival goers this month.

Brazil has an aggressive anit HIV and aids campaign praised by the UN. Each Month more than 20 million condoms are distributed.

“In addition to the 45 million condoms we already distribute on a monthly basis, we’re increasing that amount this month so there can be enough condoms distributed at all the parties and events that take place during Carnival,” said Mariangela Simao, director of the national HIV-AIDS program in the capital, Brasilia.

The country plans to spend roughly $36 million to purchase 1.2 billion condoms this year _ making it the world’s No. 1 government buyer, Simao said. Now that is a lot of sex!!
Church officials in Brazil, home to the world’s largest Roman Catholic population, have opposed the condom program.

Also Friday, the Health Ministry hosted a “Mature Woman’s Block Party” in Rio de Janeiro to highlight its latest target demographic: women over the age of 50, about 70 percent of whom do not use condoms, according to the ministry.

“We senior citizens are still sexually active nowadays, so these types of campaigns are very important,” said Ana Leila Goncalves, a 62-year-old grandmother who took part in the event.
